Even though other contestants ridiculed her clothing choices, Miss Utah kept it modest–well, compared to the other ladies, that is. She was the only one to wear a one piece bathing suit and the only one with sleeves on her evening gown.
Is it because these women don’t feel that they have enough personality, character, or intelligence to win–and they have to show more skin?
Katie was hoping to make a statement about modesty.“There were a lot of people who said, ‘if you wear this you won’t do well,’” recalls Katie. “People don’t appreciate traditional standards. They don’t appreciate modesty.”
