Due to hormonal fluctuations during puberty, between 40-70% of young men experience gynecomastia, or enlarged male breasts. Although most outgrow it after a few years, about 15% of young men do not.
What causes gynecomastia? Liver disease, testicular trauma, steroids, or an increase in estrogen levels.
Which brings me to this startling fact: when women take the birth control pill or hormone replacement therapy (not to mention the hormones used on farm animals), the hormones pass through the blood stream, into the urine, and right into our water supply.
So, what’s the big deal? What could happen?
Well, more female fish with deformities for one. Lower sperm count in men. Increase breast cancer for men and women. Testicular cancer. Early onset puberty.
And gynecomastia.
Just do a search on “water supply hormones” and see what comes up.
Oh, and it’s not just the hormones that are getting into our water supply. Pretty much all the meds we take are going right down the drain and into our water.
Might be time to look into reverse osmosis…
