Meditation for the Morning

Let us adore Jesus Christ employing for the glory of His Father and the salvation of men all the time which He passed upon earth not a moment given to pleasure, to personal satisfaction (Rom. 15:3). He did everything from the desire to please God His Father. (John 8:29) Let us thank Him for this great example, and render to Him all our homage.

Even if we were the children of an innocent Adam, a divine precept would oblige us to utilize time … Read the rest

Meditation for the Morning

Let us adore God teaching us by the mouth of St. Paul that the whole of religion consists in love, and that love is the secret of doing all things well (Rom. 13:10). Let us thank Him for so kind and precious a lesson.

FIRST POINT

Love Inspires us with the Desire and the Will to do all Things Well

The more we love, the more we have it at heart to please God, whom we love. The one is the necessary effect of the other, and the exact measure of it. If we really love … Read the rest

Summary of Tomorrow’s Meditation

We will consider tomorrow in our meditation that to love is the means for doing all things well: First, because love inspires us with the desire and the will to do so; Second, because it gives us courage; Third, because it enables us to find joy and merit in it. Our resolution shall be: First, to perform everything through love, saying joyfully to God whilst performing each one of our actions: All for Thy love, all to please Thee, O my God! Second, to excite ourselves to what is most perfect through the thought that that … Read the rest

By Colleen Hammond, in Catholic Church, Devotions, Meditations, Novena, Prayers | 1 Response 1 Comment

Meditation for the Morning

Let us adore Jesus Christ declaring to us, in the gospel, that on the judgment-day we shall have to render to Him an account of all our actions, of all our speeches, even of our idle words (Matt. 12:36), that is to say, of those which are not justified by any reasonable motive, and that this judgment will be followed by eternal torment in the case of some, and by a blissful eternity for others (Matt. 25:46). Let us thank Him for a warning so well adapted to make us perform everything in a holy manner.… Read the rest

Meditation for the Morning

Let us adore Jesus Christ inviting us in the Gospel to be at any moment ready to die. Blessed is that servant, He says, whom when his Lord shall come He shall find doing his duty (Matt. 24:46). Let us thank Him for counsel so important, and let us ask of Him grace to profit by it.

FIRST POINT

How Wise it is to Perform each Action as though it were Destined to be the Last of our Life

Nothing is more uncertain than the moment of death. Death will come, says Jesus Christ, at an … Read the rest
