From The Catholic Young Woman. I’d say the words that come to mind are “charming, gracious, elegant, kind, and dignified.” Ever wonder what words come to people’s mind when they see how you dress and how you act? Reminds me of an episode of “What Not to Wear”!
I’ve always loved to dress beautifully, and I love it when other girls dress beautifully. I remember that every time I would visit my older brother at his college I would sit out on the dorm balcony for a few minutes every day and watch the girls flutter by in their skirts. It was such a picture of charm and beauty.
But, as you might say, with great beauty comes great responsibility.
The woman who takes it upon herself to dress beautifully is going to be dressing rather exceptionally in the world of today. She is, in a way, witnessing with her dress her ideas of what womanhood is. Ideally she would be promoting the dignity of women.
Unfortunately that isn’t always the case. Unfortunately the attitude of some women is one of an aloof superiority. Her outward adorning isn’t so concerned with promoting the dignity of women as it is with promoting her own self.
“Let not yours be the outward adorning with braiding of hair, decoration of gold, and wearing of fine clothing, but let it be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable jewel of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.”
If we intend to make some sort of statement with our dress, then we have an obligation to make sure that our interior is in conformity with that exterior. The best impression we leave on others shouldn’t be our cunning outfit. It should be our humility, graciousness, and kindness, which the outfit should simply accentuate.
A beautiful dress doesn’t make a beautiful woman. The imperishable jewel of a gentle and quiet spirit does.

Femininity ! Femininity ! Femininity ! GET It ! Get It ! Get It !
It is God given !… Think Eve !………. That is what strikes men like a lightening bolt ! ! !
Struck Dumb ! …. That ‘s why they blankly stare at you, not lust, just incredible and gorgeous you . Created by God to be a companion for Adam…..
Women do not understand this concept, they all think that they cannot measure up to to another pretty girl, I got news for you baby …All women are gorgeous , Femininity is the key to a man’ s heart ! Believe IT , you are not male ,you are a WOMAN.
Ben Kulp tells it like it is. Men like Ben and I want real women, not drag kings! Ben, you do us gents proud. Keep up the good work!
I’m glad I took the time to read “What Makes a Beautiful Woman”. Though inner beauty takes a front seat to “outer beauty”, that is not a license to go butch or frumpy. In fact, there seems to be a mindset that females who look and/or dress butch, frumpy, and/or sloppy are morally superior to who dresses and looks feminine and dignified. Just as bad, I’ve noticed such portrayals on TV shows and movies dating back to before I was born.
I am such an advocate for feminine dress on females that, when I met a now-penpal of mine and she told me she didn’t wear pants or shorts, I gave her a hug. That was my way of saying “good job”.
