My Dad’s Funeral Arrangements

In lieu of flowers, my Dad asks that people donate to the Assumption Grotto’s building fund.

Visitation (viewing) for my dad, Ron Wine, will be Friday, January 20th at the Wujek-Calcaterra Funeral Home from 3pm-9pm. The Rosary, led by Fr John Bustamante, will begin at 8pm Friday evening at the funeral home.

The Requiem Mass will be offered Saturday, January 21st at 11am at the Assumption Grotto. A pre-Mass visitation (viewing) will be available at 10am in the vestibule of the church. The Grotto is located at:

Ronald G. Wine, age 80, of Warren Michigan passed away January 17, 2012. Eileen, his wife of 61 years, was at his side. His father and mother, Frank and Dorthea Wine, sister Marilyn and brother Ray preceded him in death. His wife Eileen, his children Lorie, Cherie, Kevin and Colleen, his brother Jerry, 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren survive him.

During his 23-year tenure at TRW he received several state awards for his work reducing the environmental impact of sanitary and industrial waste. He was very active in the community and enjoyed his time as a member of his church’s Usher Club, Assistant Scout Master for Troop 1485 and delivering Meals on Wheels. Ron also enjoyed 22 years officiating high school football, basketball and baseball in Macomb, St. Clair and Oakland Counties. When he retired from officiating, he started working the game clocks for Warren and Warren Mott high schools and continued to do so for 35 years. When he “retired” in 2009, Warren Mott presented him with a plaque “In Appreciation for 35 years of Dedicated Service to the Athletic Department”as well as a game ball signed by the coaches and team members.

Visitation will be at Wujek Calcaterra Funeral Home, 36900 Schoenherr, Sterling Heights, MI on Friday, January 20, 2012 from 3-9 pm, with Rosary at 8 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at Assumption Grotto Catholic Church, 13770 Gratiot Ave, Detroit, MI at 11am with visitation at the church one hour prior to mass. Memorials preferred to Assumption Grotto Catholic Church.

    Colleen, how are you and your mother holding up? Just reading this, I’m working hard just to hold back the tears. I’ll pray for you and your family; you are such a good woman that, if I saw you, I’d give you a hug to make you feel better. God Bless You.

    My deepest sympathies to you Colleen and your whole family. My mother passed away this past December and I pray she is in Heaven and might greet your Dad!!
