Defining Beauty has issued a dare to women…Dare to Wear a Dress every day during the month of May! How appropriate that May is the month of Mary…
Will YOU take the “dare”?
Here’s a post from Defining Beauty:
I wear the skirt in my marriage, in my family. And this is not a bad thing.
I am a women who is happy to be a women. Nothing against men, but I am not trying to be a man and am glad I’m not a man. I would make a terrible man. I am soft, feminine, supportive and loving to my husband and (hopefully) to all people around me. I am not weak, nor unintelligent, unmotivated, and I am not “mooching” off my husband’s hard work.
And it makes me upset when people assume that feminine = weak or anything of the like.
For instance, we are looking into buying a house. And without going into too many details, it was made clear to me that my husband was considered the buyer (or as they put it “the decision maker”), while I was the little wife whose ideas, thoughts and questions were not as important. I am sure that the stress of looking for a house, and pregnancy hormones did not help.
But when I told (was complaining to) some friends about this, they’re answer was “and you’re going to wear skirts for a month?”
Somewhere along the way, I think people decided that all skirts were made out of doormats. This is why I’ve decided to do the Dress Dare. All the women that I know who are doing this are strong, beautiful, intelligent women. Women who you look up to. Women who you see in a skirt and think “well, if she’s wearing a skirt, then maybe it’s a good thing.” Maybe all these ideas about how wearing a skirt means that you’ve given up on your own identity, you’re own soul, are wrong.
Well – I’m glad to wear the skirt, and glad that some of my brilliant friends are challenging the rest of us to show the world with what we wear that true femininity means being a strong, beautiful, soft, intelligent, confident, rational being enlivened by God’s own spark burning within us. (And not some wanna-be in an ugly pant suit.)
Grab your skirts, shave those legs and join us!

great post as usual!
Regarding Marcela’s wearing nothing bit skirts and dresses since childhood; good for her! As someone who knows females are not to wear pants, if you think my mother has views similar to mine, as much as I’d like to say otherwise, think again. She even has a problem with other females only wearing dresses and skirts. You could even see me as “Meathead” to my mother’s “Archie” on the matter(I tend to be a lot more conservative on a lot of things than she is).
Jen over at Phyllis Jean put this in another comments section, so I’m sharing it here:

The 31-Day “Dare to Wear a Dress” challenge is a good one. It’s a short enough period of time for a lady/girl to try it, but a long enough period of time for her to get sick of pants and shorts. In fact, the longer a female wears skirts and dresses, the less she wants to NOT wear them. In fact, females ought to try wearing them for at least an even four weeks straight (Lent is also a good time to give up pants). I bet anyone who wears skirts and dresses, and nothing but, will easily be sick of wearing pants.
Regarding Marcela’s wearing nothing but skirts and dresses since childhood; good for her. If you think my mother’s views on the issue are the same as mine, however, think again. I’m a lot more conservative on dress than she is.
The “31-Day Dare To Wear a Dress” is so worthy a Lenten “Dare To Wear a Dress” should be done at Lent.
I find it interesting how the women hate men the most like to dress like us none too seldom, while the women who lack anything against us try to be feminine as best they can.
As admirable, if that’s a strong enough word, as the 31-Day “Dare To Wear A Dress” challenge is, I recently looked at a website where a woman named Jamie(her last name alludes me), a card-carrying pants and shorts wearer, has decided to give up wearing anything other than skirts and dresses for an ENTIRE YEAR. Let’s pray she, after that period is up(as of today, she’s on Day 40), she won’t go back to pants or shorts. Let’s also pray Jamie, who is a Lutheran sees the truths of Holy Mother Church.
Of all the females who participated in the 31-Day “Dare To Wear A Dress” challenge, how many have given up wearing pants for good? I’d like to know.
