We’ve Blogged about this before due to the sign at the Vatican…
The new Dress Code at Knock, Ireland is meant to bring Knock in line with similar dress codes at Lourdes, the Vatican, the Holy Land and other pilgrimage sites. The sign is basically a “What Not to Wear”, but many are offended. One mother complained, “It’s a battle to keep children in the faith as it is!”
Thoughts…?
Stories here (where the mother of a 13-year-old says she won’t even go to Mass, now) and a follow-up story can be found here.
“People say over the years what changes they want and we must respond, and a big issue has been why there is no dress code like in other shrines. We didn’t do it hurriedly and all that has happened is we’ve erected a simple sign showing three images of what’s considered inappropriate.”
He added that over the years he had seen men stripped off and topless at Knock and women scantily dressed, which made for an uncomfortable situation for other pilgrims.

Here’s the Vatican’s sign:

That mother lost her battle to keep her child modest and in the faith long ago, and it has everything to do with how she raised her child. Cover it, madam!
True, AnnElisse. If the child’s Faith is that weak that being corrected in any manner would cause her to abandon the Faith all together…
Of course there will be those who are offended. They don’t like being told they can’t do what they’re not supposed to do. However, I do think the shrine needs to do more. In accordance to Dt. 22:5, they should disallow pants on females.
