  1. These are interesting, and I see the 40s influence, but aren’t there any nice, modest, feminine styles we can wear everyday? I wouldn’t be caught dead in some of these. They are silly!

  2. The make up alone is enough to scare me! Egads!

  3. A lot of the stuff in J.Peterman’s catalog would work.

  4. Hey Colleen,

Actually, both the Jones and Spiegel would be a little low cut in the neckline for me. I thought it was 2 fingers or something like that. I have always found modest items at Talbots. You can actually click on 3/4 length arms etc.

  5. What’s so frustrating is that places like Talbot’s and J. Peterman are so expensive, espeically for families w/mom’s at home. What I’m praying for is a designer who makes modest dresses to work with a place like Kohl’s where it could be priced more affordable. The one from Speigel isn’t one I’d spend my day in doing dishes and laundray. I can’t find a modest 40′s inspired shirt dress for under $100… and that’s a dress that can be dressed up or down. Just my thoughts.. thanks for keeping this topic on the front burner. May Our Blessed Mother bless our efforts!

  6. I’m sorry I meant the Jones dress… Speigel would work better.. short sleeves would be nice!

  7. Beautiful dresses but they are are extraordinary and unrealistic. It is so great to see the more modest styles… they not only look elegant… but will make you feel as beautiful and elegant. I think these styles can be modifed and look FABULOUS if toned down a little.
We need to remember that the models wearing the dresses also make the look a lot more extravagant. Colleen, we need a “Dressing with Dignity” clothing store!!…one that would catch the eyes of every womon as she walks by and views the beauty of elegance through modesty on the dressed mannequins she sees in the window! You wear clothing that makes you look elegant…..you will find yourself feeling and acting just as elegant. We are Women and Our Creator designed us to be different….we need to dress the part!

Keep up the GREAT work Colleen… know that you are not alone. You not only have many people with you on this…. but the Good Lord is helping you with this…It is His plan being worked through you. Thank you for your YES!

    Sheila
