  2. I read West before I read Hildebrand. West was informative but left me feeling a bit cold. Hildebrand’s writings were full of warmth.

At times I did appreciate West’s blunt approach but I wonder if the same things could be communicated in ways that doesn’t feel like such an assault on the imagination? I look forward to seeing his work evolve.

  3. I was immerrsed n phenomonolgy as an undergrad and that is when I was first introduced to the writing of the Vonhildebrands. I was moved by their teaching philosophical approach and the fluidity of their thoughts. It was a stepping stone that led me to JOhn Paull Ii and his THeology of the Body. I was blessed to hear the original naked without shame by Christopher West and it was like the skies open adn the rains of freedom and redemption o fmy own wounds were healed and transformed by this astounding message. Everything I learned as an undergrad, was now gleaming with a newfound clarity. It was the deepest encounter with Jesus Christ I ever experienced. The mystical dimension of the Church had never been so tangible to me. I immerssed myself inthe study of the Theology of the Body adn the mystical tradition of the Church and saw young peoples lives change dramatically when presenting them the principles of The theology of the Body and exposing them to the powerful presentaions given by Christopher West. The journey that begin with Christophers presentaion has adn continues to bare much fruit in my life and others.

I believe that Christophers critics are coming more from a point where there is a skepticism about purity of heart that both men aadn women are destined for. I have experienced it in my own life and know many men whose hearts have been transformed and formed by this beautiful teaching. My prayer is that we stop arguing over the minutia and embrace the transforming power of Christ in all of our lives. That is the challenge we need to embrace…myself included.

As a response to some of his critics in the world of academia: My question is have they been through the entire text of JPII’s Theology of the Body and if so how many times. I think there is not so much a misunderstanding on West’s part , but a misunderstanding of JPII”s Theology of the Body and his entire sprirtuality from which is was birthed.
