(NOTE: According to the 1962 Missal of Bl. John XXIII the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, today is the feast of St. Michael. St. Gabriel is observed on March 24 and St. Raphael on October 24.)
- Today is a fabulous day to teach our children more about the Angels! TAN has many fabulous books about angels.
- Make a new habit to say the St. Michael prayer every day as a family. You can learn more about it here.
- In honor of St. Gabriel, pray The Angelus.
- Read the Book of Tobias to learn more about St. Raphael helping Tobit and Tobias.
Food ideas: Angel food cake, angel hair pasta, devil’s food cake, deviled eggs, or something with Blackberries!
Blackberries, you ask? Well, yes. My relatives from the UK say that it’s an old proverb that when St. Michael won the battle over Satan and his minions, Lucifer was tossed into a blackberry bush. So maybe make a blackberry sauce to go over the Angel Food cake? Blackberry pie, perhaps? (Make sure you check out our no fail pie crust recipe.)
