She’s just starting out and could use a plug. Actually, she doesn’t even have a name for her new business venture (open to suggestions!) and doesn’t have an eBay account yet either, so I told her I’d give her a ‘leg up’ on her business. So here goes!
First of all, our daughter has access to all my fine sewing equipment so all the seams are serged, evenly sewn, and the garments are constructed in sturdy materials…essential for young girls in a hurry to change their doll’s clothing! See the picture at the bottom of this post for an example of the evenly sewn hem, ribbon detail, and under-construction.
Second, have you priced American Girl doll clothing?!? They’ve lowered their prices recently and most are still around $30 each. EACH! YIPES!
Third, she’s open to taking special orders and requests. If you have something you’d like made special, please contact her at DollClothing@ColleenHammond.com .
All four dresses below will fit the standard 18″ doll–American Girl Doll size, from Samantha to Rebecca! Offerings are for the dresses only–doll and/or accessories are not included.
First up is this lovely Pink Calico dress with lace trim around the collar and pretty little bows on the sleeves. The back closes with Velcro, so there are no worries about small hands being able to handle buttons or snaps–not to mention NO CHOCKING HAZARD for little ones. Price is only $8.00:
SOLD!

The second offering is for this Pretty Polka Dotted Pink dress. It’s the same style with lace at the collar and ribbon around the sleeves, but no bows. A large opening in the back with Velcro closure for ease of changing clothing. Priced the same at $8.00:
SOLD!

Now for some fancier dresses. This next one is a Purple Two Tone with an eyelet collar and ruffled sleeves. (If you’ve ever done ruffles, you’ll appreciate the work that goes into tiny sleeves!) Same Velcro closure at the back and fine workmanship. Due to the extra labor involved, this dress is prices slightly more at $10.00:
SOLD!

Finally, this very well constructed gorgeous rayon dress with ribbon bows and tie-backs. I know for a fact how hard that ruffle collar was to construct! The sleeves are also gathered and ruffled and has elastic so you can puff the sleeves as high as any young girl would desire. A ribbon tie back adds an elegant detail to this flowing, gorgeous dress. Priced at $12.00 it’s worth every penny.
SOLD!

GOOD HEAVENS!!! How did those “add to cart” buttons get so bloody HUGE!??!?! LOL! Okay, so I’m not as web savvy as I thought I was. Thought it was a simple “cut and paste the html code here” type thing.
The dresses are STUNNING! We will be back to order soon! Best wishes for your business!
God bless!
Lovely stuff! I’d really like to purchase the last dress for my daughter for her birthday, but the “add to cart” button doesn’t seem to add it to my cart, although it does take me to Paypal…Any suggestions?
I’ve heard that same problem from others, too Monica. If I can’t fix it immediately, how about if I send you an invoice from PayPal?
Okay, payment buttons have been fixed!!! Click away!
I received the dress I ordered in the mail today and just wanted to report that it is beautiful! Thank you so much. My daughter is going to be thrilled with this dress — it’s for her birthday. The Monday towel is also very sweet! Many thanks, and to anyone who is considering these dresses, I highly recommend them!
These are sweet dresses. My favorite is the last one with the sash. Might the others come with a sash too? If so, it would be nice to see that on the site (before buying). The last one appears to fit better.
A thought…would it be appropriate to make a dress resemling a First Holy Communion one? I certainly don’t want to suggest anything that would be out of place. With my daughter about a year away from making hers, the thought came to mind. And, on this note, dresses that represents Saints…what do you think?
Thank you.
Beautiful work, and do continue. There is a great demand for well-made doll clothing. I think what you’ve done so far is beautiful.
Beautiful!!!
I really like the suggestion to make the First Communion outfit and the Saints’ outfits!
She is working on an eBay site right now, but mostly has been doing ‘special request’ dresses. And yes, a First Holy Communion dress is being done. Never thought about Saints’ outfits! I’ll pass along the suggestion.
By the way, all the dresses have been sold. But Darcy is working on “request” items right now. We forgot to take pictures off all the styles she’s done (duh!!!, my fault….) but will continue to do so from now on. She just finished a beautiful red crushed velvet cape with white satin lining….LOVELY!!! Pics coming this weekend!!!
