Mind blowing? You may say that something was blowing in their minds when they supported him in the first place.
You’d think the well-heeled and enlightened eggheads at the Aspen Ideas Festival—which is running all week in this fashionable resort town with heady panel discussions and earnest disquisitions involving all manner of deep thinkers and do-gooders—would be receptive to an intellectually ambitious president with big ideas of his own.
In a way, the folks attending this cerebral conclave pairing the Aspen Institute think tank with the Atlantic Monthly magazine might even … Read the rest...read more

Model and Patroness of a Family, a Wife, a Mother, and a Mystic.
I have a strong devotion to Bl. Anna Maria Taigi. She has blessed our family with one major miracle and a number of “tiny” ones. She is truly an example of a devoted wife, a loving mother, and an accurate and amazing mystic. I’m excited to announce, too, that more information on her canonization is coming soon!
Here’s the official website for Bl. Anna Maria Taigi run by the Vice Postulator for her cause (Fr. Michael Pintacura)....read more

Um…I mean us.
This act to silence political criticism comes only a few months before the next election. No coincidence there…!
Doesn’t this sound like a re-run of The Sedition Act of 1918 that repressed free speech under Woodrow Wilson?!?
Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it.
I’m not going to link to it, but Google HR 5175.
UPDATE: The bill keeps disappearing off of websites, so here’s the PDF. It’s 84 pages long, so I don’t think I’ll post it here…
Just when you thought

From the National Review.
The Daily Princetonian has an illuminating article on the young Elena Kagan, Class of ’81. Under the tutelage of Sean Wilentz — lefty historian, friend of the Clintons, and notorious Bush-basher — Kagan wrote a thesis called “To the Final Conflict: Socialism in New York City, 1900–1933,” which first raised eyebrows when Kagan was being considered for Souter’s seat last year:
“Americans are more likely to speak of a golden past than of a golden future, of capitalism’s glories than of socialism’s greatness,” she wrote in her thesis. “Conformity overrides dissent; the desire to conserve

Bergh says that despite popular mythology, Sweden is not a socialist success story but instead owes its economic growth to the lowered tax rates and deregulation of the early 1990s, which allowed innovation and investment to flourish. Bergh also discusses how Sweden’s national voucher program revitalized the country’s educational system and warns that Americans who are hoping to emulate Swedish success by growing the public sector are learning the wrong lessons from Sweden.
