Stocking Stuffer Ideas for Young Men and Young Ladies

I have the pleasure of knowing the owner of Blue and Gold Media for many years now. He was the brains behind TAN Books audio development and is using same production team that made the highly acclaimed best-selling audiobook The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ and The Story of a Soul to offer these new works.

Those of you who know me well know that I’m a picky homeschooling mother of four and that I rarely recommend anything. But I have read both of these books and I highly recommend them both to you for your young men and young ladies for casual, fun, recreational reading.

For less than the price of a family pizza dinner, all of your children will enjoy these books many times over. Plus, with the Audiobook version including a free copy of the book, it’s great for car trips so the whole family can enjoy these stories together!

The Trial of the Mystic

It’s the Trial of the Century… The Fifteenth Century.

In 1480, the prodigy Reichlin is to be tried for practicing the black arts. Powerful political brokers, world-class scholars and highly respected clerics assemble together at the remote St. Alban of the Snows to give testimony in his Inquisition.

Reichlin’s opponents accuse him of invoking devils. His defenders claim that he is a virtuous man, able to communicate with angels using the ancient language referred to as The Word. Reichlin’s life and freedom are at stake. More still is at stake as this gathering of powerful men provides the opportunities for intrigues that could well determine the fate of Christian Europe.

In such a setting, ambitious men naturally maneuver for their own advantage, but even those who normally live apart from the world find themselves tempted by the promise of power.

More than a simple courtroom drama, Trial of the Mystic is, in the words of the author, Dennis Cantwell, a history of intrigue, deception and cowardice. Mr. Cantwell has crafted a work that a thoughtful reader will find both engaging and thought-provoking. Paperback.

The Misplaced Spy

Joanie O’Connor wasn’t looking for danger; she was just working to finish her book report.

The rural village of North Salisbury, Connecticut in the early 1980s is the ideal setting for Joanie’s responsible approach to her life as a devoted daughter, sister and student. When the old librarian, Miss Peterson, mysteriously falls ill, Joanie is unwillingly drawn into a Cold War conflict involving international spies, and the threat of murder.

Suddenly, the eccentricities of the local populace seem less innocent. Are the village busybodies mere gossip-mongers, or are some of them actively cooperating with foreign agents? Whom can Joanie trust to help her? She is forced to find these answers to protect herself, Miss Peterson and…The Misplaced Spy.
