Our oldest daughter has been making this flaky pie crust to perfection since she was 9 years old. It’s nearly fool proof! Combine it with the Apple Pie recipe posted here.

Pie Crust
- 4 cups flour
- 1-3/4 cups shortening*
- 4 Tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 egg
- 1 Tablespoon vinegar
- 1/2 cup very cold water
BEAT egg, vinegar and water. Set aside
BEAT flour, shortening, sugar and salt until blended. (Yes, you can use a MIXER for this step!)
ADD remaining ingredients and blend (in mixer) until it just forms into a ball.
CHILL for 15 minutes or so.
ROLL out as needed.
*Butter flavored shortening (Optional: 3.5 sticks of butter).
